OVER VIEW
The smartphone that can stand on its own. Galaxy Z Flip folding technology allows for hands-free video chats and previously unreachable selfies. So, fold it, flip it, stand it. However you set it up, it reinvents the way you take photos on your phone.
This was the Phone, Tablet preloaded application at SAMSUNG, which work on in Galaxy Fold launched in April 2019.

ROLE
UX Designer  / SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS

It was a team project of 6 designers such as  UI and UX. We are designed global Camera App.
My responsibilities included defining problem space, creating the concept along with a future roadmap and designing the visual graphic screen of Live Focus in Camera Application.

PAINPOINT

This project’s challenge was to propose a new UX corresponding to new form factor.

When designing the Camera App for the first time, changing the S series theme was the biggest challenge. In order to change from a camera image that takes good pictures full of existing advanced technology to a camera that takes a stylish, smart, and beautiful picture, from the shutter design to the intelligent functions, the entire face is off.

As the screen folds up and down, there are many UX elements that the app needs to solve. Especially in the case of the Camera app, its design is affected by the aspect ratio such as 1:1, 3:4, 16:9 and full. These various ratios are supported, and while the ratio is the perfect, it has to be designed in a position where the user can see the screen while looking at the camera.

GOAL

The camera in Galaxy Fold has been tasked with proposing a new UX that responds to a new form factor. As it can be folded and unfolded to take pictures, it can be placed on top to take pictures, and just as a selfie stick is no longer needed to take pictures, the usability has expanded and the design is focused on UX rather than graphics.

KEY FEATURES

Camera that can take pictures anywhere, anytime, on any screen.
- Document Scan : Easily share physical documents with your colleagues right from your Galaxy S20 or Galaxy Fold with its built-in scanning capabilities
- Super Slo : Creates interesting videos where the action is slowed way down.
- Live focus : Add to new effects
- Scene optimizer : Scene Optimizer is a feature first introduced on Galaxy S9's intelligent camera that automatically detects what's in frame and adjusts accordingly to help you get beautiful photos. It adjusts exposure, contrast, white balance, and more, choosing from 32 modes.

Feature 1

[Responsive Layout is essential]
The Galaxy Z Fold series has two screens on one device – the Cover screen is visible when the device is folded, and the Main screen is visible when the device is unfolded. Since users fold and unfold their devices frequently, it’s important to provide an optimized layout for each screen. By dynamically changing the UI to match the screen size, optimized layouts can also be applied to devices with larger screens such as tablets.

Feature

Live Focus is a useful tool that comes with the latest Samsung smartphone models. With it, you can blur elements in your photos just like a professional photographer. If you're looking for a way to take artfully blurred photos, Live Focus is a great option for your Samsung smartphone. To use this app, all you have to do is open the camera on your smartphone and tap on the dynamic focus option next to the shutter. Once you've done that, you can adjust the background blur with a sliding bar.

One of the advantages of this app is that you don't need to know much about photography in order to use it, letting your Samsung smartphone's camera do all the work for you. Take a photo and then easily adjust the blur with Live Focus.

[Live focus Effects]
- Bokech: To control the blur amount.
- Spin : background image changes as if drawing a circle in a circle shape.
- Zoom : picture changes as if gathered from the outside to the inside
- Color point : the background excluding people becomes a black and white image.
